Telecommunications Technician maintains an organization's telecommunications network to ensure dependable operation. Monitors network systems and performs diagnostic tests to document and report performance levels. Being a Telecommunications Technician conducts routine checks and preventative maintenance to minimize malfunctions and downtime. Troubleshoots telecommunication issues and performs or coordinates repairs. Additionally, Telecommunications Technician may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Telecommunications Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Hunter Communications is searching for a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our growing team.  This is an amazing opportunity to join a well-established, rapidly growing company that fosters career opportunities. 


    Specific duties include but not limited to:

    • Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
    • Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
    • Operate Horizontal Directional Drill
    • Assist in potholing and remediation
    • Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins
    • Ability to Read and Comprehend utility locates.
    • Perform heavy manual labor, able to lift 70 lbs. on occasion
    • Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.
    • Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.
    • Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.
    • Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
    • Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)
    • Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
    • Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.
    • Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.

    Requirements

     

    • Possession of a valid Class A driver’s license – other candidates may be considered (especially CDL permit holders or Class B holders). This position is subject to the U.S. D.O.T. and Federal Highway Administration regulations relating to controlled substance and alcohol use and testing)
    • Demonstrated experience in utility construction.
    • Read and interpret underground construction plans and written instructions.
    • Ability to think ahead and use independent judgment.
    • Must live or be willing to relocate to within 35 minutes of the office.
    • Clean driving record.
