Teller Manager supervises the teller staff and daily operations for a branch to meet operational and service standards. Ensures each day's transactions balance and oversees the auditing, reporting, and balancing operations. Being a Teller Manager reviews and approves exception transactions and researches and resolves discrepancies according to branch procedures. Prepares and manages the schedule and ensures sufficient teller coverage during busy periods. Additionally, Teller Manager responds to escalated customer issues and presents solutions. Trains staff members on operating, regulatory and security policies and procedures. Reviews tellers' performance, conducts performance appraisals, tracks cash differences, and issues corrective actions. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Teller Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Teller Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Job Summary

    Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly services to customers, involving receipt and payment of cash, and to recognize customers' needs with suggestions appropriate to the Bank's services.

    Follows the established policies and procedures for this area, in accordance with the Bank and the supervisor's direction.

    Responsibilities

    • Responds to customers' inquiries as appropriate
    • Maintains proper cash level in drawers, keeps cash secure, and maintains a high level of safety for the Bank.
    • Accepts checks for cashing, receives checking and related accounts; accepts deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, makes change, and issues receipts
    • Receives savings deposits, pays withdrawals after verifying balance and signature; redeems U.S. Savings Bonds
    • Receives loan payments when installment loan coupon accompanies payment
    • Processes night deposit and mail-in deposits
    • Process cashier's checks, cash advances, and other Bank services. Accepts applications and issues U.S. Savings bonds
    • May service ATM according to schedule or need
    • May accepts tax deposits and various utility payments
    • Opens safety deposit boxes
    • Performs duties of branch CSR on scheduled Saturday rotation
    • May assist with opening new accounts
    • Cross-sells bank and affiliate services
    • Completes all required training
    • Performs other related duties as required or assigned

    Requirements

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • One to Two years of customer service and cash handling experience required; experience in a bank or similar financial institution preferred.
    • Strong customer contact skills to meet and greet the public in a friendly, courteous manner responding to a variety of situations in a professional manner
    • Maintain confidentiality of the Bank's records and customer transactions.
    • Detail oriented, accurate, and able to multi-task; good mathematical aptitude
    • Ability to operate a computer terminal, 10 key, and other general office equipment
    • Willingness to be involved and represent Southern Bancorp through civic and community organizations.
