    TEST ENGINEER

    Job Purpose:

    AOI/AXI/SPI Engineer designs, develops, modifies, executes cost-effective automated inspection plans. Analyzes, sets up and writes programs, standards and procedures for automatic inspection machines such as (but not limited to) AXI, AOI and SPIs. Provides guidance to line operators and technical assistance to manufacturing engineering. Diagnoses solder paste printing, component placement and soldering failures using automatic inspection equipment. Processes batch screening runs and prepares data to engineering to identify yield problems and product failure trends.

    Nature of Duties:

    • Develop, program, maintain and improve automated inspection processes to include: solder Paste Inspections, Automatic Optical Inspections and X-ray. 
    • Responsible for automatic inspection equipment documentation which include: procedures, inspection coverage, Capability, Repeatability, MSA
    • Optimize set up/programs to improve equipment effectiveness and cycle time optimization (reaching the defined cycle time from the quotes, maintaining and improving the cycle time during the product changes). 
    • Analyze inspection processes to ensure process capabilities and throughput. 
    • Provide analytical and well documented reports to the rest of the team. 
    • Strong participation in cross functional  teams supporting manufacturing and developing new test processes for new production introductions. 
    • Assists with day-to-day operational aspects of product functional and system test support.
    • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
    • Provides Design groups (internal and external) with feedback on product related issues observed at inspecting systems; provides Design with suggestions for product design improvements.
    • Develops good knowledge of product design and uses the knowledge to help Production with product debug and troubleshooting.
    • Works with Repair and Quality departments on analysis of field returns (RMAs).

     

     Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
    • Minimum 8 year experience in related field of work
    • Knowledge of automatic inspection equipment 
    • Comprehensive engineering knowledge, knowledge of electronics manufacturing products and processes
    • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment required
    • Must be able to work independently and in a team setting
    • Contract Manufacturing experience a plus
    • Proficient in Google Suite a plus
    • Knowledge of Agile a plus
