Small engineering firm in Napa is seeking an Engineering Technician/Drafter for either a full- or part-time position. Firm specializes in vineyard design including erosion control, subsurface drainage and permitting of new and existing vineyards. The candidate would work with two PEs, an EIT and several other experienced staff members. All on-the-job training would be provided.
The qualified candidate will have a high degree of comfort using or learning advanced computer software programs such as AutoCAD and ArcGIS. AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is desirable. Construction review and surveying experience is also desirable. Position requires a balance of field duties and office work, yet candidate must be willing to spend the majority of the time in the field during construction season and the majority of the time in the office during the rainy season. Duties vary depending on the specific projects but may include surveying with Trimble RTK equipment, Trimble GeoExplorer equipment, and Total Station equipment; measuring & collecting existing infrastructure data; drafting designs and details; staking out boundaries and proposed infrastructure locations using surveying equipment; conducting laser level surveys; observing contractors' construction and installation of infrastructure to required specifications; and other duties as assigned.
Must be flexible and adapt readily to changes in project needs. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ideal candidate will be comfortable with on-the-job training from fellow staff members and must be able to work independently when necessary. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
