Test Pilot Manager oversees pilots who test model aircraft to ensure compliance with federal regulations and product specifications. Determines if model is suitable for flying and testing. Being a Test Pilot Manager organizes scheduling for testing and for demonstrations for government officials or customers. Recommends changes to cockpit or aircraft to better meet the pilot's needs or to improve flight. Additionally, Test Pilot Manager assists engineering team in developing tests and maneuvers for test pilots. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department. The Test Pilot Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Test Pilot Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. 1. Holds at least a Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument and Multi-Engine Rating. 2. Able to possess a First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.3. Possess a valid U.S. Passport.4. Previous Jet Experience.5. 3500 Hours Total Flight Time
Preferred
1. Possesses a Bachelor’s degree (highly desirable).2. Holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with Multi-Engine Rating.3. CL-30 Type Rating.4. 4000 Hours Total Flight Time.
