Testing Technician performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results. Records data from testing in standard formats and provides results to product and engineering teams. Being a Testing Technician assists technical teams with recommendations to resolve testing problems, roadblocks or equipment malfunctions that impact the performance or validity of testing. Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment. Additionally, Testing Technician typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Testing Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Description

    PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
    Under the supervision of the Treatment and Accountability Court Administrator and Lab supervisor, the part time drug testing technician will accompany clients during the collection of urine for the purposes of the clients being drug tested. The technician will observe urine screens, fill out all the appropriate paperwork, and seal all urine appropriately to be shipped. This technician is responsible for adhering to all departmental policies.

    NOTE: This is a part time position. Employee starts work at approximately 6:30AM and works 3 to 4 times per week.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Accompanies clients from the waiting room back to the drug testing location.
    • Fills out all paperwork and logs associated with the client's drug test.
    • Ensures that clients do not take anything into the drug testing room with them.
    • Observes the client during drug screens to ensure the purity of the sample.
    • Reports any notable information to the Lab Supervisor.
    • Prepares logs and boxes for the purposes of the samples being effectively shipped.
    • Maintains inventory and assists with supply orders.
    • Maintains positive working relationships with persons, agencies, and other units of the criminal justice system who come into contact with the Accountability Court Services organization.
    • Assists with routine maintenance of drug testing paperwork and equipment as well as cleanup.
    • Courtroom testimony if called upon.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    • Knowledge, skills and abilities acquired through the completion of a high school degree.
    • Ability to accurately maintain records.
    • Possess good organizational skills.
    • Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals.
    • Possess good oral/written communication skills.
    • Possess basic computer and data entry skills.
    • Ability to work varied Schedule, including weekends and holidays.
      ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
      Performs other related duties as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    High School or equivalent.

    Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
    ADA COMPLIANCE
    Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
    Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
    Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
