Testing Technician performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results. Records data from testing in standard formats and provides results to product and engineering teams. Being a Testing Technician assists technical teams with recommendations to resolve testing problems, roadblocks or equipment malfunctions that impact the performance or validity of testing. Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment. Additionally, Testing Technician typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Testing Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     We are continuing to grow in the Colorado or Rocky Mountain Region market and are looking to add experienced construction materials testers to our team. Applicants should have a willingness to learn and grow in their career and have a strong work ethic. Senior Construction Materials Technician will be hired on a full time basis in our Centennial office based on level of experience and workload.

    What You Will Do: 

    You will be part of our Materials Testing team. 

    • Performing field sampling and testing on soils, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt materials in accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, CDOT, and other standards and specifications. 
    • Verify compliance with the plans, specifications, and schedule of materials. 
    • Prepare and produce project documentation for private, municipal, county, CDOT and federal projects.
    • Documentation will include LIMS documentation, field testing, laboratory, and inspection reports, helping with cost estimates on projects, and other relevant project documentation.
    • Be an active member of the safety team.
    • Perform calibration, verification, and documentation duties to acquire and maintain laboratory accreditations.
    • You may also help with proposals, project budgets, schedules, and may be involved in geotechnical investigation, construction inspection, pavement management, and a variety of other technical related activities.
    • Provide training and mentor less experienced technicians

    What You Will Bring: 

    We are looking for individuals experienced in: 

    • Construction materials testing who want to better themselves and want to be challenged. 
    • 3 years of construction materials testing, or related experience is wanted but not required. (5 years of experience preferred).
    •  
    • Excellent technical, communication, safety, and organizational skills. 
    • Current  CDOT, CAPA, ACI, and WAQTC  technical certifications are preferred. Qualified candidates should include their current certifications when applying.
    • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required. 
    • You must have the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains associated with construction sites.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
    • A two-year technical degree from an accredited school, or a degree from a four-year accredited college in a field related to civil engineering construction is a plus and will increase your opportunities but is not required. 
    • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. 

    You must be comfortable working in all weather conditions. Due to the physical nature of the work, you must be able to lift 50 lbs. – 75 lbs. periodically. You’re required to work with your hands, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. At times you may be working at or on uneven terrain, slopes, in confined spaces, or reinforced trenches.
