Testing Technician performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results. Records data from testing in standard formats and provides results to product and engineering teams. Being a Testing Technician assists technical teams with recommendations to resolve testing problems, roadblocks or equipment malfunctions that impact the performance or validity of testing. Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment. Additionally, Testing Technician typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Testing Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Job Purpose

    Reporting to the Battery Performance Test Manager, the Lithium-ion Battery Technician will be responsible for supporting Li-Ion NPI(New Product Introduction) activities.

    The Lithium-ion Battery Technician will setup instrumentation and test equipment, operate, teardown, and report results of Li-ion battery tests

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work as part of a Global V&V team supporting Li-Ion product related NPI Activities.
    • Conduct battery electrical performance testing.
    • Support testing at 3rd party laboratories.
    • Work with external parties on fixture design and test instrumentation & optimization
    • Maintain lab test equipment.
    • Provide product design enhancement suggestions.
    • Operate electronic test equipment and HV battery equipment.

    Qualifications

    • Good mechanical knowledge of hand tools and power equipment.
    • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical principles.
    • Problem solving and diagnostic skills.
    • Technical 2-year degree in an engineering discipline or military experience in related field
    • Requires the use of MS office suite of products, especially Excel.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    • Software development experience with test communication protocols, including python programming language
    • Battery test experience
    • Experience collaborating with department team members.
    • Experience maintaining safe work practices and environment.
    • Ability to follow priorities on multiple tasks.
    • Previous experience working with Li-Ion Battery technology
    • Familiar with quality standards (ISO 9001 & 17025, equipment metrology).

    Skills Requirement :

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office program suite.
    • Detailed report writing skills.
    • Previous experience of delivering measurable results in a busy environment.
    • Experience of working with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
    • Demonstrate a high degree of safety practices in the workplace.
    • Familiar with 5S and Six Sigma lean enterprise initiatives.
    • Willingness to travel 5% of the time

    General Job Requirements

    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
    • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds / 23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
    • Must be able to differentiate colors.
    • Risk of electrical shock.
    • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead / fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead.
