Testing Technician performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results. Records data from testing in standard formats and provides results to product and engineering teams. Being a Testing Technician assists technical teams with recommendations to resolve testing problems, roadblocks or equipment malfunctions that impact the performance or validity of testing. Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment. Additionally, Testing Technician typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Testing Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Quality Testing and Engineering, Inc. (QTE) has an immediate opening for a Construction Materials Testing Technician to perform testing of various materials, both in field and laboratory settings, to verify conformance to company and/or project specifications.
Candidates must be reliable, responsible, and meet the requirements listed below. Candidates must be able to work varying hours, days, including some weekends, and at times over 8-hour shifts in order for us to meet our clients' needs.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to transport testing equipment
- Must pass drug and alcohol screening
- Basic knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel
- Must be able to work both inside and outside in various weather conditions.
- Be able pickup and carry up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Ability to read & write.
- Ability to utilize technology to communicate.
Preferred training (NOT REQUIRED):
- ACI Certification as a Concrete Field Grade Testing Technician -- Grade I
- IDOT Concrete Technician Certification
Both certifications can be obtained post-employment
Experience in concrete materials inspection/testing in the field or laboratory lightweight concrete & aggregate testing, fireproofing observation and testing, masonry inspection and environmental well installation and sampling, a plus but not required.
Job Description/Duties:
Sampling and/or performing ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) testing on aggregates, cementitious materials, fresh concrete, and hardened concrete. Provide and receive training, recommend and adjust concrete mix designs, report and share test results, and perform data entry.
Job entails traveling to the following sites primarily located in the Greater St. Louis
Metropolitan Area.
