Testing Technician performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results. Records data from testing in standard formats and provides results to product and engineering teams. Being a Testing Technician assists technical teams with recommendations to resolve testing problems, roadblocks or equipment malfunctions that impact the performance or validity of testing. Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment. Additionally, Testing Technician typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Testing Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     High Voltage Maintenance (HVM), a rapidly growing third-party, NETA accredited, electrical testing company is currently seeking Field Technicians to support our service offerings.

    RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Troubleshooting capabilities, relay calibration, use of load recording instrumentation, low and medium voltage switchgear testing through 15 kV class
    • Perform tasks such as testing of circuit breakers, switchgear and motor control centers
    • Electrical testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems
    • Busduct Installation, Inspection & Testing
    • Instrument transformer tests & Power transformer testing – Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
    • Test both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
    • Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
    • Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidates with NETA Level 2 certification or above required or equivalent experience.
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment, periodic and random drug screenings
    • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work.
    • Must be available for out-of-town travel at a minimum of 25% or 12-15 weeks per year
    • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move 100-pound test sets
    • Possess a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical 
    • Graduate of Electrical Technical School 
    • Military equivalent 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Medium Lifting (30 Ibs. – 45 Ibs.)
    • Heavy Lifting (over 50 Ibs.)
    • Frequent Standing
    • Frequent kneeling / crawling / stooping 
    • Frequent bending / twisting
    • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders)
    • Frequent driving (car, van, truck)

    ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

    • Extreme cold (below 32*)
    • Extreme heat (above 100*)
    • Noise Level (Medium / High need to shout to be heard)
    • Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors)
    • Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.)
    • Work outdoors (no effective protection from weather)

    • 25%
