May recommend changes in testing methods or equipment changes. Additionally, Testing Technician, Sr. requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Testing Technician, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.   • Advance Testing Company, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Certified Construction Materials Inspector/Technician to work on projects in the Northeastern United States.

    Advance Testing, an established New York-based construction materials testing and inspection firm with several offices throughout the Northeast, has opportunities available for individuals to perform testing and inspection of materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, asphalt, fireproofing and firestopping. Typical assignments include projects related to construction of roads, bridges, airports, tunnels, commercial and industrial buildings, schools, government and military sites, and material fabrication and production facilities.

    Certified Construction Materials Inspector – RESPONSIBLITIES

    • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures and materials used conform to approved drawings and specifications.
    • Perform testing and/or inspection of materials.
    • Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
    • Examine workmanship of material installations for conformity to specifications.
    • Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and complete clear, accurate reports daily.
    • Prepare sketches of construction installations that correlate with testing and inspection sites.
    • Other related duties may be assigned.

    Certified Construction Materials Technician - QUALIFICATIONS

    Desired certifications include:

    • American Concrete Institute Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
    • American Concrete Institute Concrete Construction Special Inspector
    • International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
    • International Code Council (ICC) Structural Masonry Special Inspector
    • International Code Council (ICC) Spray-Applied Fireproofing Special Inspector
    • International Code Council (ICC) Soils Special Inspector
    • International Code Council (ICC) Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector
    • Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Quality Control Inspector, Level I/II/III
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
    • NYSDOT Density Testing Inspector
    • NYSDOT QA/QC Asphalt Plant Inspector
    • NETTCP (Northeast Transportation Technician Certification Program)
    • NJSAT (New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists)

    Additional desired qualifications include:

    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Industry Safety Course
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • AS Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or similar, OR completed coursework toward a BS Degree in Civil Engineering or similar;
    • Experience with construction materials inspection and/or testing
    • Strong focus on safe work practices and adherence to all safety protocols
    • Must be detail oriented and able to work independently
    • Ability to clearly communicate with clients, supervisors and other staff
    • Must be able to travel and to perform site visits
    • Requires a valid, clean driver’s license
    • Applicants may be required to obtain any security clearances and background confirmation for sensitive projects and locations
