Transfer Qualifications: Candidates must currently be a permanent Registered Nurse 1 or be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for 70.1 transfer, candidates must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in New York State and have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the SG-22 level.

Promotion qualifications: candidate must be a qualified employee of New York State, have a Registered Nurse license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State, and two years of service in any Grade 18 or higher position that requires a license to practice nursing; or one year of service in any Grade 20 or higher position that requires a license to practice nursing.
OR
Open-Competitive qualifications: have a Registered Nurse license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State, and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.
Duties DescriptionThe Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 role is essential to the health and safety of the individuals we serve. Oversight is provided to ensure that the medical/nursing needs of our individuals are met. The RNS 1 will provide administrative nursing oversight to Family Care nurses in Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, Greene, and Putnam County. They will provide remote clinical oversight to the Family Care RN 2s in Hudson Valley as well. The incumbent will be based out of the Ulster office.
- Provides clinical supervision of nursing staff.
- Responsible for implementing community nursing coverage plans for long term leaves/vacancies.
- Conducts monthly audits of medical charts.
- Completes performance evaluation on an annual and quarterly basis.
- Act as a liaison between the nursing staff, treatment team leader and DON 1 (Director of Nursing).
- Reviews surveys finding and assists in the development of POCA’s.
- Participates in the monthly committee meetings of the Health Services Bulletin and the Medication Certification Task Force
- Conducts monthly nurse meetings to keep staff current on updated regulations, administrative directives, and departmental changes.
- RNS 1 sits on the Family Care Advisory Board and FC Administrative Committee
- Use of a State credit card to purchase medical equipment and diapers/depends
