    Position Summary

    This position will be a title examiner and will assist the manager in all aspects of the day-to-day operations. This position will provide accurate and professional title commitments, maintain high level of productivity and products, assess risk and liabilities in accordance with policy provisions, and provide title opinions based on the facts and documentation.

    Candidate MUST be located in Houston area. As this is a hybrid position.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate and compile documents from the plant database for the production of the commitment of title insurance
    • Conduct title research and exam on acreage, lots, and homes
    • Assist in clearance of title defects and encumbrances
    • Locate involuntary liens, bankruptcies, and foreclosure proceedings
    • Review probates and divorce proceedings to determine title
    • Abstract and analyze property restrictions, easements, maps and plats
    • Review property surveys and revise title reports accordingly
    • Work with underwriter partners to satisfy underwriting requirements to accommodate issuance of title insurance policies
    • Work closely with the customer and escrow staff to meet time requirements for options, and assist with answering questions
    • Updates title and judgment searches and ensures timely processing of associated documents, etc.
    • Answers questions and inquiries regarding process, procedures and transactions
    • Submits details for examination of the title and provides updates to appropriate parties
    • Utilizes various documents, files, websites and title search software
    • Recommends and advises management on process improvement and impact of change and leads initiatives to improve processes and service/products
    • Complete necessary reports on a weekly and monthly basis
    • Review outstanding liens affecting the subject property
    • Perform other duties as required

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the title industry including experience in understanding title orders
    • Experience in researching/abstracting recorded documents to formulate chains of title and ultimately prepare title commitments for residential/commercial properties.
    • Experience in reviewing court records such as divorces, probates, etc.
    • Experience with Texas title insurance laws and regulations including The Basic Manual of Rules, Rates, and Forms for the Writing of Title Insurance in the State of Texas
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Title Data Inc. and county websites
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to use a computer and an understand of computer software including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
    • Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality while performing job-related duties
    • Willingness to "go the extra mile" to achieve established goals and objectives

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Softpro title examination software
    • Experience with Title Data software
    • Experience as an escrow officer - existing escrow officer license is a plus
    • Experience in working with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) on periodic audits

    Physical Demands

    • Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently and frequently moving small objects.
    • Frequently sitting for long periods of time
    • Walking or standing occasionally
    • This position works mostly indoors going outdoors may be occasionally required
    • Must have manual use of hands and vision to use computer constantly

    Job Type: Full-time

    Schedule:

    • 8 hour shift
    • Monday to Friday
