SUMMARY: Texas Public Radio is seeking a motivated professional to serve as its Audience Services Associate / Receptionist. At the heart of TPR’s day-to-day office operations, the position is the first point of contact for TPR customers, guests and callers. The successful candidate must have exceptional customer service standards, strong communications skills and a passion for public radio. In addition to reception duties, the position will also assist with administrative tasks, including support for marketing projects and events.
TPR is a mission-driven, award-winning journalism organization serving a large and discerning audience across a wide expanse of the state.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides outstanding customer service to external clients, visitors and internal customers, in-person and via phone/email: greets and welcomes guests, direct visitors to the appropriate person and office; answers, screens and forwards incoming phone calls; receives, sorts and distributes daily mail and deliveries.
Serves as the first point of contact for visitors to the TPR headquarters, providing assistance and maintaining office security by following safety protocols, registration procedures and controlling access to the office (visitor and contractor registration, COVID safety protocols, issue visitor badges, etc.).
Maintains common areas by monitoring mailbox and printer/copier areas; ensures the reception area is tidy and presentable, keeping areas organized and supplied as needed.
Assists with updating website content including the online Nonprofit & Business Directory and Community Calendar.
Assist with conference room schedules, prepares rooms, documents and equipment for internal meetings.
Assists with projects initiated by other departments, as needed.
EDUCATION:
An Associate’s Degree or higher is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least two years of experience or training in administrative work.
Non-profit experience is a plus.
SKILL:
Strong proficiency in Outlook Office Suite and propensity to learn database programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Must have excellent customer service skills
Must be accurate and detail oriented, and possess strong organizational and time management skills.
Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Must have analytical skills to problem solve.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.
Talking: Frequently conveying information, instructions, and ideas clearly, or quickly.
Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations, in person or by phone.
Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.
Physical: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. May have to lift folders, files, papers, small boxes, and other items weighing up to approximately 10 lbs.
All TPR employees must receive both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, unless granted an exemption for medical or religious reasons.
