Additionally, Tool Crib Attendant has training and experience in an industrial environment with familiarity of heavy machinery and tools. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Crib Attendant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and programmers, you will maintain CNC fixture inventory and kit-cutting tools for CNC manufacturing jobs for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of rocket engine fabrication through strong teamwork and communication with machinists, NC programmers, schedulers, and engineers.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Review planning/engineering, work instructions, and tooling to verify appropriate work process and quality requirements before starting the job.
    • Perform accurate and timely completion of all job order documentation and associated paperwork, part counts, tie-in information, etc.
    • Utilize measuring equipment such as gauges, scales, calipers, etc. 
    • Kit all jobs with cutting tools listed per documentation.
    • Order tools as required for the machine shop.
    • Maintain cutting tool and fixture inventory.
    • Set cutting tool lengths.
    • Grind and modify cutting tools as needed.
    • Maintain configuration control on files and job records.
    • Safely work within a machine shop environment.
    • Performs daily and regular cleaning including light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
    • Work with team members and others using Lean/Continuous Improvement processes to develop and utilize process improvements that positively impact operations by reducing waste, reducing safety risks, and improving quality.
    • Utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
    • Perform other tasks as directed by Supervision/Management including but not limited to assisting non-production plant and administrative tasks.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a machine shop environment as a machinist or similar role.
    • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
    • Knowledge of cutting tools and machine shop tooling applications.
    • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, height gages, and dial indicators.
    • General inventory knowledge.
    • Familiar with the use of personal computers.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, drawings, internal and customer specifications, manuals, and safety regulations.
    • Ability to perform mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
    • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.
    • Must be physically able to climb ladders, and stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.
    • Must be able to work assigned shifts, as well as weekends and overtime, when necessary.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    • Knowledge of common aerospace cutting tool coatings.
    • Experience operating basic hand tools, grinders, mills, and lathes.
    • Fluent in the use of precision hand tools

    • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight-critical hardware
