Sayres, a renowned leader in defense support services to the US Navy and DCSA, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer with a current SECRET clearance, verifiable in DISS in Washington, DC. This position may offer remote and/or hybrid work arrangements based on customer discretion.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Design Engineer supporting the Naval shipbuilding industry, you will play a pivotal role in providing engineering and technical expertise throughout various phases of ship design and construction. Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Concept Studies and Feasibility Studies: Conduct engineering and technical analysis for concept studies and feasibility studies related to ship design and systems.
2. Contract Design and Detail Design: Collaborate in contract design activities and detail design, ensuring precision and adherence to technical requirements.
3. Independent Design Reviews: Participate in independent design reviews to evaluate and improve design proposals.
4. In-Service Ship Design: Contribute to in-service ship design and engineering activities, incorporating upgrades and modifications as required.
5. Shipboard Installation Support: Offer technical support during shipboard installation, ensuring proper integration of design elements.
6. Special Studies: Engage in special studies focused on enhancing ship systems, equipment, and operational efficiency.
Additional Duties:
7. Naval Architecture: Utilize expertise in naval architecture to optimize ship design and stability.
8. Marine Engineering: Provide comprehensive marine engineering support for propulsion, HVAC, and related ship systems.
9. Electrical Engineering: Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within ship designs.
10. Mechanical Engineering: Apply mechanical engineering principles to design and improve ship systems and components.
11. Systems Integration: Ensure effective integration of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) and Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I) systems.
Qualifications & Clearance Requirements:
Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
- Active Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS.
- Experience with Navy procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel; supervisory experience.
Preferred Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:
- Master's degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer License.
- 15 years of experience in DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
