Tool Design Engineer designs and develops tools and machinery used to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineer develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools. Additionally, Tool Design Engineer estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools. May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Design Engineer work is closely managed.     Tool Design Intern Position Summary:

    The Tool Design Intern will provide technical support on the development of stamping dies, prototype tooling and inspection fixtures.   

    Responsibilities

    Tool Design Intern Responsibilities:

    • Partner with other tool designers on designing metal stamping dies, fixtures, and related equipment  
    • Create and maintain internal manufacturing drawings
    • Maintain CAD system and the development and maintenance of print documents

    Qualifications

    Tool Design Intern Qualifications:

    • Enrollment in a four-year degree program for Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
    • Some experice using CAD software, preferrably Solid Works
    • Ability to read blueprints
    • Ability to use measuring devices
    • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and team building skills to create effective working coworkers
    • Ability to follow through on commitments and holds team members accountable
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
    • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
    • Ability to prioritize and multitask
