Tool Design Engineer designs and develops tools and machinery used to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineer develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools. Additionally, Tool Design Engineer estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools. May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Design Engineer work is closely managed.     About this Role

    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering innovative solutions to a variety of industries and products using CAD.


    Basic Qualifications

    • 4 years of experience in mechanical design engineering
    • Advanced proficiency in NX CAD including modeling, drafting, assembly, and analysis OR experience with SolidWorks CAD and a desire to learn NX CAD

    Technical Competencies

    • Experience designing consumer electronic products, packaging electronics, opto-mechanical product design, precision mechanism design
    • Experience with machine design and robotic automation
    • Broad understanding of manufacturing methods including machined metals, casting, injection molding, and sheet metal

    Success Indicators

    • Experience delivering innovative solutions for a variety of industries and products
    • Ability to think laterally to solve design challenges
    • Holding high standards for product design and performance
    • Experience managing time and schedules effectively
