Tool Design Engineering Manager manages the design and development of tools and machinery to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Leads design reviews to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineering Manager provides expert input to resolve design issues and innovate solutions. Oversees the design, fabrication, sourcing, and procurement of fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Additionally, Tool Design Engineering Manager ensures design documentation and models for the fabrication of tools are accurately prepared. Controls budgets, costs, resource allocation, and materials required for tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Tool Design Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity.     POSITION DESCRIPTION
    The Electrical Engineer will provide support to National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Capital Projects. Provide design engineering support to the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project as a Design Engineering Electrical Integrator. The Subcontractor shall obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task.

    Provide design engineering support to the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project as a Design Engineering Electrical Integrator / Senior Engineer A. Primary responsibilities include oversite of Architect Engineering (AE) firms preparing new designs and modifications to existing electrical equipment and associated systems for the SRPPF project. Secondary responsibility includes preparation of engineering analysis, walkdowns, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: P&IDs; Equipment Lists; Electrical Equipment Specifications; Equipment Location and Installation Design; Panel Layouts; and Vendor Document Review.


    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
    BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree. 

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum 10 years in supporting a commercial or federal science, nuclear engineering, or other task relevant programs or projects; typically, 5 to 10 years in a management role.

    Desired Qualifications
    • Candidate must demonstrate 10 or more years design experience in the field of Electrical Engineering in the nuclear or process chemical industry. Candidate must demonstrate design experience with electrical power and support systems.
    • Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions and to inspect equipment condition.
    • Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures is preferred.
    • Working design experience in a nuclear industry/facility is preferred – including familiarity with NQA-1, commercial grade dedication, etc.
    • Working knowledge of national consensus standards IEEE, NEC, NFPA, ISA and others applicable to electrical design.
    • Ability to work independently and within a multi-discipline team.
    • Experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred.

    LOCATION
    Savannah River Site - Aiken, SC. Position will be primarily performed at SRS and various off-site locations as needed.
    The Savannah River Site (SRS), a 310 square mile (198,046 acres) Department of Energy site, is located in the sand-hills region of South Carolina. It encompasses parts of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River and Georgia. SRS is close to several cities, including Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. It is also within a few hours of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Greenville and Charlotte.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

    A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). The work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. The period of performance shall be for a period of one year base period and an additional one-year option. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Subcontract personnel must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. After award, the selected uncleared candidate may be required to apply for a DOE clearance. Must be a US Citizen.
