Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Roles and Responsibilities
• Receive, arrange, and store tools and other items in assigned storage areas or
locations.
• Locate and issue items upon receipt of properly executed requisition or as
directed.
• Check returned tools and items, and report need for re-sharpening,
reconditioning or replacement.
• Maintain all required tooling and other records of location, stock-on-hand and
other data in prescribed form and detail.
• Initiate requisitions for re-supply of items per authorized min-max level.
• Maintain bins and shelves in a clean and orderly condition.
• Detect and report damaged tooling.
• Lubricate and clean tool room machines and similar duties.
• Move materials as necessary in the performance of duties.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• May be required to function in a production capacity as needed.
• Must wear the appropriate PPE and follow all health and safety instructions and dispose of chemicals appropriately.
• Clean around work area throughout the day to maintain 5S
• Any other function as determined by the company.
Required Qualifications
• Ability to lift or carry objects or materials up to 25lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods on concrete floors.
• Ability to make quick or repeated movement (holding, reaching, twisting,
bending) with hands, arms, legs, or body.
Desired Characteristics
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work from assignments and/or
verbal instructions.
• High School diploma, GED, or related work experience
