Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Job Description:
The position issues, receives, and stores tooling and other equipment. Keeps an inventory of tools, inspects tools and equipment for wear or defects, and requests new equipment when needed. Maintains accurate records of tool use. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Ensures that job is done in an efficient manner to make sure production is continuously supplied with tooling, and down time is minimized.
