Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Job Responsibilities:
Ensure that dies are expertly repaired and maintained to support production, with tool room resources aligned to meet priority requirements.
Provide responsive tooling and set-up support, offering innovative problem-solving to production departments. Collaborate with tool engineers to ensure new dies are production-ready.
Supervise, train, and mentor tool & die makers, enforcing policies and work rules while evaluating employee performance.
Oversee participants in the T&D Apprenticeship program, nurturing their growth and development.
Ensure seamless operation of tool room systems and maintain necessary equipment in an organized and efficient manner.
Guarantee availability of required internal and external tool repair/maintenance resources.
Uphold safety and housekeeping standards, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Equipment Safety Analysis (ESA), Areas Safety Analysis (ASA), and housekeeping standards.
Support manufacturing goals and production requirements by maintaining tooling in optimal condition.
Maintain open communication with internal and external customers, management, and others in Operations.
Identify and recommend areas for efficiency improvement, actively participating in planning meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Regularly communicate safety rules and procedures, quality standards, and company policies to employees.
Conduct routine safety audits, promptly addressing any safety concerns.
Supervise Skilled Trades employees across three shifts, fulfilling all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and organization.
