Pursuit Aerospace in Newburyport is currently searching for an Engineering Tooling Designer.
The Tool & Die Designer will coordinate the repair, rebuild, improvement, and ground up design for Dies and Tooling. This position will be responsible for designs, details, and the creation of new dies, and will also be open to new technologies and innovations in order to develop new products and improve on existing products as well as reduce costs. The Tool and Die Designer will be expected to communicate and assist with all levels of the plant in an effective and respectful manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Design stamping tools, fixtures for press equipment, and machining layouts for the tool room using current Solid Works software

Use current Solid Work software to produce models, detailed drawings from sketches, existing customer supplied drawings, images, and other forms of communication.

Familiarity or willing to learn Logo Press predictive software.

Familiar with aerospace standards and respective nickel based alloys.

Responsible for assisting in quoting new tools and projects

Provide designs that are manufacturable, accurate, meet project scope, and will work with departments in the facility to ensure work conveys correct information and is error-free.

Hands on trouble shooting, when necessary, on new part introduction and legacy tooling/product.

Design and maintain design updates on dies, tools, fixtures, and gauges. Work with Tool & Die makers to assist in trouble shooting Metal Stamping tooling.

Support Metal Stamping Business Unit as required.

Must follow established design guidelines and standards.

Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3 years of experience as a Tool Designer or equivalent.

Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks,
-
Knowledge of Logo Press predicative software a plus.

Have an understanding of stage tooling, progressive die design, metal working materials, mechanics, and heat-treating of design components.

Experience in a metal stamping environment (i.e. knowledge of presses and different dies used in metal stamping such as progressive, draw, extrusion, miscellaneous, etc.)

Strong 3D modeling and surfacing conceptual skills.

Knowledge of GD&T
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's Degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting or related field.

Experience with Solid Works and Logo Press predicative software

Good verbal and written communication skills

Solid mechanical aptitude and the ability to work as part of a team

Having an understanding of different Aerospace materials and production methods.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
