    Description

    The Assistant to the Court Administrator is responsible for supporting the President Judge (PJ) and District Court Administrator (DCA) to administer and manage the civil, criminal, family, and orphan’s courts in Cameron and Elk Counties.

    Primary Duties

    • Schedules and monitors activity in civil, custody, divorce, dependency, and orphan’s court matters; contacts attorneys for available dates; monitors collection of conference officer and master fees.
    • Acts in the absence of the DCA in managing the day-to-day operations of the court. Appoints counsel for indigent parents in dependency cases, incapacitated persons in guardianship cases, and guardian ad litem in custody cases.
    • Assists attorneys, litigants, court and county staff, and the general public by providing information on court practices, appearances/court schedules, and ADA assistance.
    • Coordinates the completion, submission, scheduling, and reporting of PFA cases.
    • Gathers data and prepares and submits monthly statistical reports to the AOPC.
    • Assists the DCA in preparing, submitting, and presenting annual court budgets.
    • Assists the DCA in the review of new court rules, state regulations, legislation, and case law to determine the impact on local court practices.
    • Assists the DCA in the preparation and implementation of local rules, court policies, and procedures.
    • Assists the DCA in updating the Continuity of Operations Plan.
    • Monitors and schedules hearings for civil, DRS, and criminal bench warrants.
    • Reviews annual guardianship reports and takes appropriate corrective action if needed
    • Assists the DCA with the management of senior judge assignments.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent; AND
    • Three years of clerical or secretarial experience in a legal, judicial, or governmental setting.
    • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.

    Additional Requirements/Preferences

    • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
