    The Executive Director of Hospice Services will be responsible for the overall hospice services provided by Otterbein Hospice and Ashanti Hospice throughout 16 counties in Ohio. Inspired by faith, Otterbein strives to enrich individual life journeys for all and to provide high quality service in a cheerful, timely manner and by communicating, coordinating, and cooperating with others to attain goals. Travel to care sites and agency offices in Lebanon and Toledo is required.

    The Executive Director of Hospice Services directs the overall operation of the hospice programs, within budgetary constraints and in accordance with the Otterbein SeniorLife mission statement, corporate goals, federal, state, and local standards, guideline, and regulations to ensure the delivery of consistent, high quality care. The Executive Director of Hospice Services has administrative authority as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Home Health and Hospice, responsibility and accountability for the facilitation and leadership of the hospice program(s), participates in the implementation of the mission, philosophy, objectives and policies of Otterbein SeniorLife with emphasis on the highest quality of care, regulatory compliance and client support services.

    Responsibilities:

    • Represent Otterbein Hospice and Otterbein SeniorLife in a positive and professional way in the internal and external community.
    • Work with the AVP to develop strategic goals for the hospice organization, communicate those goals to leadership and partners and drive performance.
    • Serve as a mentor and guide to hospice leaders and partners.
    • Ensure that the organizational values and mission are understood and upheld among the leadership team.
    • Prepare operational reports for board review as requested and attend board committee meetings as requested.
    • Keep abreast of regulatory changes that impact hospice operations and act to implement plan to incorporate changes into operations.
    • Oversee and ensure compliance with training programs/needs based on changes.
    • Serve as a resource to clients/elders/residents and family members regarding policy, practices and hospice benefits.
    • Function as a super user on hospice software.
    • Ensure a that partners are maintaining compliance with regulations through Medicare and/or Medicaid - including prior authorization, Levels of Care, insurance verifications, notice of elections; revocations; face-to-face, certifications, etc.
    • Ensure that policy and procedure manuals are current and are reviewed regularly by required partners and the board; review policies and procedures on an annual basis and make recommendations to AVP.
    • Prepare the annual hospice budget and capital expenditures budget in conjunction with hospice team; monitor expenses to ensure operation is at or below approved budgeted PPD expense levels.
    • Practice open communication with the leadership team and partners within the hospice program.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or related field, Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Licensure/Certification: Ohio driver’s license.
    • Experience: 5 years of experience leading healthcare teams, with 2 specific to hospice
