Top Behavioral Health Executive plans and directs all aspects of a healthcare organization's behavioral health function.     The execution of the following tasks requires fluency in both Spanish and English languages as well as being informed and responsive across different communities and cultures. The Therapist functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating clinical skill and cultural humility. Position requires experience to plan, develop, coordinate, and provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to program clients. In some cases, it is required to accompany clients for medical or legal appointments and assist them as an unofficial interpreter.


    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Provide direct services such as individual, group, family counseling, crisis intervention, and case management to assigned clients.
    • Assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
    • Use evidence based practices to educate and support clients’ families and advocate for clients’ rights and preferences. Consider the level of acculturation of both families and children, as well as individual adults.
    • Advocate for client’s wellbeing and for their access to health care within the agency and in the community. Provide, explain, and refer clients to resources that are beneficial in their healing process. Consult with agencies such as DSHS, court systems, housing authority, KIAC (Kitsap Immigration Assistance Center) to maintain knowledge and presence in the treatment process.
    • Promote and model cultural responsiveness to help remove some of the barriers experienced by clients in accessing the healthcare system (language, cultural traditions, health literacy, cultural assumptions, legal and economic status).
    • Provide crisis intervention counseling and coordinate with Designated Crisis Responders/crisis services when appropriate.  
    • Document client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established policies and procedures.
    • Promoting access to mental health care by outreaching to clients at schools, public places in the community such as libraries, parks, museums, etc., or client’s home when safe and appropriate.
    • Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings.
    • Provide information to clients on substance use issues such as the effect on mental and physical health and daily functioning. Coordinate treatment with internal and external substance use treatment providers.  
    • Monitor assigned clients for LRA compliance.  Facilitate LRA extensions with the CRT and all court-involved personnel to insure LRA's are continued uninterrupted, as appropriate.  Assist CRT in determining when revocation is appropriate.
    • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.
     
    Minimum Qualifications:
    BILINGUAL: Spanish and English Fluency Required
    EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health.
    EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
    This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportation.
    Capacity to work well with children and families.
    LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
