The Position
Executive Branch Auditors plan, organize and conduct comprehensive reviews of programs and activities of executive branch agencies in accordance with the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Governor's Finance Office, Division of Internal Audits, is recruiting for an Executive Branch Auditor 4 position, geographically located in Carson City, Nevada. This position performs at the supervisory level, reporting to the Administrator of Internal Audits. In accordance with the Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors and in compliance with state and federal rules, regulations, and legal requirements, duties of the position include, but are not limited to: planning, organizing and conducting audits and reviews of internal controls, accounts, records, activities, and operations of State agencies; assigning audits to lower-level auditors; reviewing and approving the scope, purpose, and audit approach; reviewing and editing audit reports, analyzing audit findings, identifying factors causing deficient conditions, and recommending courses of action to improve unsatisfactory conditions; and serving as the primary contact with agency management, presenting final audit reports to the Executive Branch Audit Committee in conjunction with the Administrator of Internal Audits. As a first-line supervisor, position duties will also include recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, evaluating performance, and initiating appropriate discipline for assigned personnel. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and four years of professional level auditing experience; OR a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, finance or closely related field and five years of professional auditing experience. At least two years of the required experience must have included the leadership of large, complex, independent and comprehensive audits. This experience must have included compliance, financial, or performance audits; OR current certification as a Certified Internal Auditor and five years of professional auditing experience which included compliance, financial, or performance audits or reviews; OR one year of experience as an Executive Branch Auditor III in Nevada State service to include the above detailed education and/or certification.
Incumbents who possess current licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in another state or jurisdiction must obtain certification by reciprocity in the State of Nevada within the probationary period.
An incumbent who is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) must maintain their license as a condition of employment.
An incumbent who is a licensed Certified Internal Auditor must maintain their license as a condition of employment.
Additional Position Criteria
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
