Position Overview:

As a Business Data Analytics Summer Intern, you will work closely with our plant Operations team to analyze various datasets related to our manufacturing processes. You will utilize your analytical skills to extract meaningful insights, identify trends, and provide recommendations for process optimization and improvement. This internship offers a hands-on experience in the application of data analytics techniques within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Preparation:

• Collect data from various sources within the manufacturing plant, including production records, equipment performance data, and our ERP database.
• Design & create methods to create data from our work cells.
• Clean and preprocess datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Data Analysis:

• Apply statistical analysis and data mining techniques to uncover patterns and trends within the data.
• Utilize visualization tools to present findings in a clear and understandable manner.
• Perform root cause analysis to identify factors impacting production efficiency and product quality.

Process Optimization:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Use data insights to propose recommendations for optimizing production workflows, reducing waste, reducing scrap, and enhancing overall efficiency.

Performance Monitoring:

• Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to your projects.
• Track the implementation of process improvements and measure their impact on productivity and quality metrics.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Document analysis methodologies, findings, and recommendations for future reference.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate insights to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous internship or other experience that relates to data analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to extract insights from large datasets.
• Experience with data analysis tools.
• Experience with data visualization techniques and tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues across departments.
• Enthusiasm for learning and applying new analytical techniques in a real-world manufacturing setting.
• Proactive and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to drive projects forward and meet objectives. Self-starter who is eager to research, learn, and keep themselves accountable to their projects.
• Must be able to communicate progress & when help is needed.
• Ability to work full-time hours (40 hours/week) over the summer. Dates for the duration of the internship will be May 28th - August 1st.
