    This position is part of the Marmon Rail Division and will be assigned to a repair shop location either at Union Tank Car Company or Transco Railway Products, Inc. - North America locations, or Procor, at one of their Canadian locations or work remotely.
    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Material Code Catalog (MCC) Data Specialist is responsible for part number creation, part number maintenance and requisite analysis for the purpose of maintaining the operations and financial database concision and accuracy. Additional responsibilities may include those activities related to materials as listed below. This is a corporate-level position, since part number database accuracy affects the entire network. This position reports to the Director – Business Process Analysis and will be based in Evanston, Wyoming or remotely.
    Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include, but are not limited to:
    • Researches and creates new part numbers by using rigid adherence to established processes while promoting material standardization across companies.
    • Analyzes databases for the purpose of rationalizing the data and identifies and removes duplicate or obsolete part numbers.
    • Maintains open communication with all Repair Business Unit (RBU), Manufacturing Business Unit (MBU) and Field Service sites to ensure accurate and sustainable part numbers are created and/or in place.
    • Contacts preferred suppliers to obtain current market pricing and accurate descriptions for use in the creation of part numbers.
    • Travels to sites as needed for training purposes when and where needed on proper part number protocol.
    • Assists with the implementation/application of part number database into new operations and/ or financial platforms.
    • Maintains accurate and current record keeping.
    • Participates in and actively supports quality projects, activities and Responsible Care initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals.
    SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:
    • Committed to operating within a safety centric environment which includes working safely and taking action when unsafe practices/conditions are identified within the plant.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical skills, emotional intelligence, organizational skills and presentation skills.
    • Detail oriented with excellent organization and time management skills.
    • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
    • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations.
    • Familiarity with consignment inventory, receiving and quality best practices.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications particularly with Excel.
    • Ability to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, ear plugs and respirators.
    • Ability to see and hear the visual and audio safety warnings in a plant.
    • Ability to bend, stoop and stretch to perform tasks.
    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in Procurement, Purchasing, Planning or Material Management.
    • Regulated industry experience required (FRA & AAR experience strongly preferred).
    • Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing business preferred.
    • Experience with factory support and improving sustaining operations.
