    Labcorp is seeking an Executive Director for the Research Models and Biospecimen Category. In this vital position, you will oversee an annual spend of over $200M covering 500k biospecimens across multiple sub-categories. Your role will provide supply and sourcing leadership to ensure adequate supply as well as identify new sources of supply globally to support current and future business needs. 

    In this exciting role, you will also drive the identification, development, and management of new supplier relationships globally to ensure Labcorp has a multi-source model to support the Research Models and Biospecimen Category. Your role will require a deep understanding of the commercial dynamics of the biopharma client environment with a view to developing financially robust sourcing solutions that will position Labcorp competitively in the marketplace.

    This highly strategic and impactful role requires the right combination of creativity, sourcing and procurement leadership, global acumen, interpersonal skills, and a bias for action!

    This role reports to the VP of Sourcing and Procurement and you will also lead a team of 5-7 sourcing professionals located globally across the US, EU, and Asia.

    Key Responsibilities
     

    Supply Market Network and Relationships: Build strong industry network with deep relationships to execute effective contracts for assurance of supply.

    Develop Alternative Sources of Supply, Financial Feasibility & Business Case Development, and Contracting Expertise to Procure Research Models & Biospecimens: Prior Experience in supply market price analysis and global contracting in a CRO or Biopharma supplier environment.   

    People and Stakeholder Management: Advanced People Leadership and engagement skills required to get alignment and buy-in for different supply alternatives to meet client needs.   

    Supplier Identification, Development and Relationship Management: Deep knowledge, Network and Expertise of global supply market to Advanced negotiations with target suppliers with a view to developing them as a stable source of supply to Labcorp. 

    Communications, Influencing and Teamwork: High degree of communication sophistication and emotional intelligence to work across multiple levels of Labcorp as well as Supplier Leadership structure. Ability to understand, navigate complexity driven by global company cultures and operating models and create an environment for teamwork and collaboration.

    Strategic, Analytical and Process Driven: Ability to develop creative commercially prudent solutions and structure contracts that are well grounded in financial feasibility, risk management and global regulatory compliance guidelines. 

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years in Research Models and Biospecimen category sourcing, contracting and supplier development and management.
    • Contract Research Organization (CRO) or a global supplier environment supporting Global Biopharma clients experience, preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Foreign Language Skills: Foreign language skills are not mandatory, but it is more important to have the ability to work with foreign cultures to develop and manage supplier relationships globally working across cultural and communication barriers.

    International Travel: Ability to travel on short notice to several countries across the globe is another requirement to perform this job effectively.  Heavy travel up to 50% domestic and global travel maybe required. 

    Contracting and Contracting Management: Deep expertise in contracting and contract management to drive performance, outcomes and minimize risk to Labcorp.

    Problem Solving: A high degree of subject matter experience and expertise is required to navigate the needs of client studies to find suitable sources of research models that will best fit the needs while positioning Labcorp very competitively in the supply market.  Ability to handle complex negotiations to assure supply while minimizing risk to Labcorp are critical problem-solving attributes to be successful in this role.

    Decision Making: Ability to negotiate with global suppliers with limited information of future demand and market conditions is critical.  Managing ambiguity effectively across client demand, supply market availability and pricing is important to ensure Labcorp is able to secure multiple sources of supply at competitive prices to increase our value proposition to our clients.

    Personal Interactions: Frequent informal and formal interactions will be required with multiple levels of senior management to explain supply market developments, our response to market challenges, regulatory actions that may impact our supplier community and other commercial aspects of sourcing and contracting.  Ability to influence stakeholders to drive sourcing options while laying out the benefits and risks in a thoughtful and analytical manner to help influence decision making.  Participate in Executive Steering Committee meetings to influence and drive priorities for supply assurance, quality, risk management and compliance.

    Interpersonal Skills: As a seasoned practitioner in this area, this individual is expected to display the emotional maturity, integrity and flexibility to work with suppliers, stakeholders and staff in an amicable manner to drive the business forward while removing impediments to assuring a stable supply of Research Models and Biospecimens.
