    E&I has an exciting opportunity for BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE-TECHNOLOGY. The BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE-TECHNOLOGY, will be responsible for developing the sales strategy to target decision makers outside of the procurement office for relevant E&I’s contract solutions, to effectively sell the solutions, engage with and advise E&I’s Members on the value of the solutions and the best way to adopt and utilize them. The BDE will develop appropriate messaging, identify targets, qualify prospects, manage a sales pipeline, close new business, and transition post-sales support to the Member Success Team.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Develop and execute a strategy (as part of a broader contract sales plan) for identifying interest, qualifying opportunities & closing contract adoptions with members through on-site meetings, presentations, remote conferences, and demonstrations.
    • Achieve assigned sales targets and assigned KPIs resulting in increased volume of purchasing in existing/new accounts and expanding the number and volume of contracts utilized by our members.
    • Collaborate with E&I Category Sourcing team, Member Engagement & Marketing teams.
    • Collaborate with Business Partnership Manager to develop sales strategies and educate relevant Business Partner sales staff on leveraging the E&I contract in their selling process.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of demonstration content for member audiences and execute through use of technology or in person meetings.
    • Consult with members on solutions available through our contracts, the value in leveraging E&I, adoption/implementation/roll out best practices, etc.
    • Act as a subject matter expert on Business Partner services and offerings to support sales efforts of colleagues on the Member Engagement Team
    • Promote and represent E&I at association conferences, supplier fairs, and regional meetings.
    • Prioritize and effectively plan travel schedule.
    • Continuously provide feedback and ideas to the aligned E&I category sourcing team.
    • Enter/update/manage all activity and contacts in Salesforce on a timely/ongoing basis.
    • Monitor personal business plan expenses, such as travel and office supplies, to ensure that expenditures stay within assigned budgets.
    • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


    • Bachelor’s degree and equivalent work experience required.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in relevant sales into higher education markets required
    • Solid understanding of buying cycles, decision makers and influencers of purchases within higher education required.
    • Proven experience using a highly consultative approach to influence change
    • Successful interaction and engagement with high-level decision makers
    • Skilled at building professional relationships that create an environment to influence decision makers.
    • Proficient in the interpretation and utilization of data and business analysis tools to evaluate present and future performance to identify areas of opportunity.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills a must
    • Strong executive presence with the ability to maintain confidence and composed yet humble.
    • Highly organized, self-starter, disciplined to work on own out of home-office.
    • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel
    • National travel required approximately 50%
