    Job Summary:As Laboratory Technician II, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clinical research efforts by conducting phlebotomy, laboratory tests and analysis on biological samples. Your responsibilities will include processing and storing specimens, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with established protocols and safety guidelines. Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the success of our research initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Perform laboratory tests and procedures following established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Process and prepare biological samples (blood, tissue, urine, etc.) for analysis, storage or shipping ensuring accurate identification, labeling, and storage.
    • Complete sample and retention inventory logs in an accurate and timely manner
    • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, spectrophotometers, microscopes, and other relevant instruments per SOPs and manufacturers recommendations.
    • Responsible for compliance with temperature monitoring of lab specimens and escalate any excursions to senior lab staff and Site director
    • Oversee quality control checks and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
    • Collaborate with research team members to assist in the collection and processing of biological samples in compliance with clinical research protocols.
    • Ensure clear documentation is kept in an organized manner.
    • Oversee strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
    • Responsible for the inventory management of laboratory supplies ensuring an adequate stock is maintained.
    • Stay updated with the latest scientific advancements and technologies relevant to the field of clinical research.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and standard operating procedures accurately.
    • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Commitment to maintaining a safe laboratory environment and adherence to strict safety protocols.
    • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new techniques, technologies, and research methodologies.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Good written and verbal communication.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree or Associates Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Science, or a related field) is preferred
    • Three (3) to four (4) years previous lab experience; clinical research laboratory, or a similar scientific environment is preferred but not required.
    • Basic or limited knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and other relevant regulations and guidelines such as IATA and OSHA universal precautions.
    • Basic phlebotomy skills, ASCP or AMT certification is a plus

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
