    Summary:

    SUMMARY: The Community Development Mortgage Lender will generate 1-4 family residential loans by actively promoting the Bank’s CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) lending efforts by participating in and/or leading community related events: homebuyer education, realtor open houses, non-profit events, local and state housing agencies, neighborhood associations, etc. The incumbent will assist customers in their search for financing and offer expert advice on products for residential mortgage loans. The Community Development Mortgage Lender will minimize risk exposure by adhering to all federal, state, and internal compliance regulations, policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Generate 1-4 family residential loans in targeted areas by actively promoting the Bank’s CRA lending efforts. Identify the customer’s needs, analyze the loan request, financial data and offer recommendations on mortgage loan products.
    • Participate and/or lead community related events to create relationships with area Realtors, Builders, Community Action Groups and others who actively conduct business within the targeted communities.
    • Join and establish relationships with non-profit organizations, Board of Realtors, Home Builders Associations, city and state housing agencies and any other public forums to generate and increase CRA lending opportunities.
    • Collaborate with the bank Marketing and Compliance groups to provide frequent information to the local media, including social media and internet outlets and applications on programs and products that benefit the local community.
    • Host local homebuyer education events for the public and provide program and product awareness training for bank partners, realtors, builders, non-profits, etc., geared toward the housing needs of the local communities, especially first time home buyers.
    • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of the mortgage industry, mortgage products, lending practices and regulatory guidelines especially programs and products which are beneficial to the local communities. Know and follow the Arvest lending policy, procedures and underwriting requirements.
    • Be cognizant of opportunities to exceed customer expectations by actively listening to the customer and making referrals when applicable. Build rapport and leverage customer relationships by meeting and exceeding their needs.
    • Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
    • 2 years of mortgage and/or real estate experience required.
    • Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or the ability to be registered within 30 days required.
    • Mortgage lending and/or banking experience preferred.
    • Sales experience preferred.
    • Bilingual preferred.
