  • Douglas Gardens CMHC is in search of its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Douglas Gardens CMHC has been in operation for over 40 years as a non-profit organization providing mental health services to the local community. The Chief Executive Officer is a highly responsible position providing overall leadership and direction to the Mental Health Center, reporting to the Board of Directors. Agency annual budget of approximately 10 million.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Manage the performance of the organization to the budget and short-and long-term financial goals. Focus on execution. Practice financial acumen in management budgets and census.
    • Ensure the organization is financially sound and has a positive operating margin based on its mission and strategic goals.
    • Identify critical issues and maintain a deep understanding of the marketplace, customers and the broad forces that affect the organization’s future.
    • Consistently demonstrate a high level of leadership skills resulting in efficient planning development and implementation. Assist in the development of and implementation of long-range goals and annual objectives.
    • Lead and enhance fundraising efforts and grant writing to attract new revenue streams.
    • Support the executive team to achieve goals and objectives that fulfill the mission and vision of the organization.
    • Abides by all company policies and procedures and operates with the highest personal integrity and professionalism while ensuring the same for all agency personnel.
    • Earn the trust and establish credibility among the organization leadership and all staff. The visibility of the CEO across the organization is essential.
    • Serves as the chief advisor to the Board of Directors on the implementation of programming, continually aligning with the vision, mission, and goals of the organization, while growing the organization’s membership, resources, and scope of work.
    • Continually enhance the reputation of the organization within the community regarding mental health and broaden community involvement.
    • Oversee the development of programs to promote effective communication, increase morale, staff motivation, and conflict resolution.
    • Oversee and determine the best course of action on all legal matters affecting the organization to a successful resolution.

    Ideal skills and qualifications:

    • Master’s degree from an accredited university in the field of Human Services and/or Business Administration.
    • Ten years (post Master’s) of progressively responsible administrative work in a health or behavioral health care setting. No less than two years must be in a senior level position.
    • Prior experience working with a Board of Directors, representatives of local, state and the federal government, and representatives of funding sources.
    • Knowledge and experience working in the Community Mental Health Center setting is a plus.
    • A person of integrity, ethical.
    • Excellent communicator with outstanding people skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to develop and mentor staff and maintain a cohesive team.
    • A broad understanding of a clinical service organization.
    • Highly skilled in budgeting, financial management, program management, and strategic planning
    • Experience with contracts or grants a plus.
