JOB SUMMARY:
The dental assistant – community based, assist the hygienists with on-site and community based clinical procedures (Seal-A-Smile) and are responsible for a wide range of tasks in the dental clinic, including direct patient care, administrative duties, and laboratory functions consistent with professional standards and CHS policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Having a positive, up-beat attitude, willingness to adapt to different work environments and situations, comfortable working with children.
- Assists provider in providing direct patient care, including tending to patient comfort.
- Accompanying Outreach Team to provide patient care in the community at numerous locations.
- Complete all trainings as required by the Children’s Healthcare Alliance and CHS.
- Strong organizational skills, with good working knowledge of Microsoft programs i.e., Excel.
- Assures exam areas are disinfected and instruments are sterilized according to current CDC and OSHA guidelines.
- Responsible for stocking and tracking dental supplies.
- Prepares exam work area and sets up procedure trays, organizing and laying out supplies for the provider.
- Works as part of a team to assure patients are treated professionally and efficiently.
- Maintains dental equipment following daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
- Accurately collects, records, and reports data as needed for report and program monitoring.
- Maintains patient dental records and other information as required.
- Actively participates in and is accountable for duties assigned that support the Mission and Values of being certified as a Patient Centered Medical Home.
- Follows all CHS policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements.
- Register, schedule, and enter data into Epic and DentaSeal accurately, in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:- Bi-annual BLS Certification required.
- Completion of accredited Dental Assistant program preferred.
