Being a Top Construction Executive manages financial processes like forecasting, estimating, budgeting, and cost control to ensure profitability. Builds effective teams and the capacity to estimate, scope, design, plan, organize and implement construction projects. Additionally, Top Construction Executive represents the organization in discussions and negotiations with clients, contractors, governmental or regulatory officials, and other stakeholders. Identifies risk and implements insurance and risk control strategies. Monitors costs and timelines to deliver projects on time and within budget. Evaluates and implements new or innovative construction methods and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and project outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Top Construction Executive manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact.     The Weitz Company is seeking an Project Executive for Industrial Markets to be located out of one of our multiple office locations or remotely. This candidate will support Industrial market sectors in processing advanced manufacturing, semi conductors and emerging markets throughout the United States.  Candidates must be well versed and experienced in Design-Build and Target Value Delivery (TVD).  Business travel is required up to 75% for this position.  


    The Project Executive is responsible for the overall success of assigned projects by overseeing the construction operations while providing leadership and management direction. This role develops project team members, identifies continuous improvement opportunities and assists with the creation of a business unit strategic growth plan and budget. The Project Executive typically reports to the Director of Operations.


    What You'll Do Every Day:

    • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans for large-scale construction projects.
    • Manage project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
    • Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, including senior management, clients, and regulatory authorities.
    • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site field management staff to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
    • Manage and support proposal creation and the development of client presentations
    • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest and maintain good relationship with Client.
    • Provide leadership and direction to preconstruction teams in analyzing value to the customer, opportunities and risk.
    • Coordinate project commissioning and handover activities.
    • Manage project closeout activities.
    • Maintain a strong network of industry related contacts for the purpose of expanding business opportunities
    • Other duties and projects as assigned
    • Business travel will be required


    What We're Looking For:

    • Desired Experience: A minimum of fifteen (15) years of construction industry is required.  Must have been the Senior Most Manager, Project Executive, or Director on a $50M - $200M project. 
    • Skills: A qualified candidate will demonstrate firm judgment and communication skills while exhibiting leadership, business acumen, mentoring and decision making abilities. This role should also effectively resolve conflicts, network with clients and have a high degree of self-motivation.
    • Education: An industry related bachelor's degree is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • Technology: Proficiency in basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Employee should have solid experience with project management/scheduling software (JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling software, etc.).
