A privately owned, well-established dealer group is hiring a Service Director to run a high-volume, 18-bay import service department in Charlotte, North Carolina. The dealer group is looking for a customer-focused individual to run an efficient service operation who will maintain the dealership’s long history of integrity. The Service Director will operate the department at maximum production, control costs, build and foster a loyal clientele, and maintain good employee relationships.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

Ensure exceptional customer experience
- Address all customer concerns, inconveniences and misunderstandings promptly and in a manner that consistent with dealership’s customer-centric attitude

Create a good working environment by training and assisting subordinates

Hire, train, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance of all service department personnel

Direct and schedule the activities of all service department personnel

Ensure that proper service sales techniques are being used
- Maintain highest possible standards of workmanship

Implement procedures to quality check work
- Set and obtain sales objectives

Work with the parts department to ensure efficient operation and the proper stocking of high use parts

Collect accounts receivable for all service and sublet work

Ensure proper repair order flow to satisfy warranty and dealership requirements

Maintain accurate records and ensure warranty parts retention as required by manufacturer and dealership

Ensure that all required technical bulletins are obtained, up-to-date and followed

Ensure that all necessary shop equipment is in proper working condition

Ensure that service department employees follow safety policies and practices, including OSHA and hazardous waste disposal, and report any and all accidents immediately

Serve as liaison with manufacturer
What are the qualifications for the job of Service Director?

Three to Five years of experience in an automotive repair facility
- Two plus years of supervisory experience
- Experience working at franchised dealership; knowledge of warranty process and policies, dealership financial statements and relations with manufacturer

Proficient knowledge of dealership computer systems (CDK knowledge preferred)

Excellent leadership, verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Must have a valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and be a current resident

Must pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, and drug screening
