Job Title: Special Education Data Management Technician III
Reports to: Special Education Director of Data Supervision and Reporting
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Provides direct support to the Specialized Learning Director for Data Supervision and Reporting, assisting in overall implementation/oversight of Special Education PEIMS data entry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Responsible for data-entry and monitoring/ compliance of special education PEIMS.
Develops training materials and host training sessions for campus/ district staff to increase understanding of the district’s Special Education PEIMS data— including but not limited to disability, placement, and other indicator codes related to special education services/ supports.
Provides training/ guidance to district/ campus staff related to Special Education PEIMS to include corrections needed within the district’s primary Special Education management program and the Student Information System (SIS).
Assists Technology Services and other departments in monitoring and reconciling student data per daily edits (Certify) and/or eSchoolPLUS or SSRS reports.
Reviews/ reconciles Special Education PEIMS data within the district SIS to be submitted to TEA in accordance with the PEIMS submission calendar.
Monitors/ supports requests submitted through the HelpDesk/ Data Management support IVRU to provide technical support for special education data management software including general guidance with respect to Special Education Operational Guidelines.
Prepares for/ attends meetings with Specialized Learning Director for Data Supervision and Reporting upon request related PEIMS, SHARS, and Special Education Data Management applications.
Facilitates Special Education Open Labs as scheduled.
Utilizes office technology and automation to complete tasks and operates office machines such PC, fax, and copy machines; keeps machines in operational working condition.
Establishes and maintains appropriate files and other information.
Must be able to stay focused and work independently with minimal supervision.
Performs other such tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have an associate degree with an emphasis in Education/ Interdisciplinary Studies or Business Administration/ Management. Must have a minimum of five years of experience as a public-school secretary or equivalent business school background.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees or visitors to the school district.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must take KISD typing test and have a minimum score of 40 wpm with 7 errors or less. In addition, must take an alphanumeric data entry test and have a minimum of 7,000 kph with 7 errors or less.
