This commitment drives our imperative to welcome a DEI Manager to VEIC who will support the implementation of our comprehensive DEI strategic plan.

     

    The DEI Manager will work in partnership with VEIC leaders and staff at all levels to cultivate a workplace culture that embodies diversity, equity, and inclusion. This role will also support VEIC’s ability to reach more customers by ensuring equity and access are core to VEIC’s program design. This role will be responsible for applying principles of equity and inclusion in operational policies and practices and supports VEIC in setting and achieving meaningful and targeted goals. The DEI Manager will facilitate and partner with key stakeholders to implement VEIC’s comprehensive DEI strategy recently developed in partnership with an external DEI consultant. VEIC’s commitment to DEI has been part of its DNA since its founding, and the DEI Manager will be instrumental in continuing to advance VEIC’s vision, mission, culture, and impact.

    Responsibilities

    • Collects and analyzes organizational data to maintain an up-to-date dashboard of DEI metrics, related but not limited to: Equitable Program Development & Impact; Learning & Development Strategy; Employee Engagement & Communication; Leadership Engagement & Accountability; DEI Alignment & Sustainability; Organizational Impact; and Employee Experience.
    • Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to advance and implement the organization’s DEI Strategic Plan and related goals to include the following:
      • Project manages VEIC’s DEI Strategic Plan, partnering with various internal stakeholders to monitor progress, timelines, and resources;
      • Provides capacity support and thought partnership for discrete activities in the DEI Strategic plan.
    • Facilitates process to articulate VEIC-specific definitions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (as well as related terminology) and socialize this language with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Reviews current internal practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the company’s DEI goals.
    • Partners with Program Design Team to incorporate considerations for equity into the full slate of clean energy services we deliver across the country, including improving the accessibility of our marketing and communications in support of these programs.
    • Partners with the People and Culture team to draft and implement DEI-aligned recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds.
    • Partners with Learning & Development and the broader People & Culture team in ensuring a DEI lens on all organizational training and to build out future DEI-learning for VEIC employees including capacity-building for leaders to foster an inclusive culture and lead by example.
    • Actively engages with the VEIC Culture Committee to support initiatives, provide guidance, and contribute to the team to drive towards VEIC’s DEI North Star and realization of VEIC’s Culture Statement.
    • In partnership with Chief People Officer (CPO), Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and the VEIC Board of Directors, builds out and operationalizes our DEI culture and strategy.
    • Manages VEIC's DEI external consultants and vendors to ensure that objectives and activities are in alignment with VEIC vision, goals, and culture.
    • Provides other support as necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.

    Qualifications

    • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
    • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • At least five years of related experience is required, with at least three years specializing in DEI programs.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation, training, and coaching.
    • Strong knowledge of learning and development methodologies including the design and delivery of both in-person and virtual programs.
    • Knowledge of DEI measurement and evaluation frameworks.
    • Ability to create and track metrics, dashboards, and present data effectively.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel.
    • Ability to foster trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders across geographies and functions.
    • Ability to navigate organizational power dynamics with nuance and respect.
    • Multi-directional management (not just of self but of colleagues, leaders, and staff)
