Job Summary:
Under the direction of the CFO, Controller is responsible for supervision and control of the general accounting area, and for financial statement and report preparation. This includes the general ledger, payables, property, budget reporting, and statistical accumulation. Also responsible for financial statement and report preparation on a regular and special request basis; assisting departments with annual budget preparation and budget reviews; reviewing entries to the general and statistical ledgers to assure accuracy; and assisting in recruitment of personnel. The Controller also operates standard office equipment, designs and utilizes computer reports and output. The Controller must be familiar with current and new regulations and guidelines relating to healthcare finance and accounting principles.
Performance Standards:
-Assist management with important financial decisions
-Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the financial state of business
-Supervise employees who work under the controller in preparing financial reports and budgets
-Monitor a company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs
-Keep up-to-date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas
-Understand the financials of a company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, accounting or finance is needed as an education requirement for this position. Some Controllers may also have a master’s degree in a related field which helps them further develop analytical skills.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in finance, 2 years supervisory experience,
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
