Facilitator I - Parenting Division

  • Summary: The Facilitator I will coordinate and collaborate with participants, case managers, county and community-based organizations. Facilitator is responsible for preparing and implementing lesson plans, presenting educational materials, and coordinating meeting spaces, group orientations, staff meetings, workshops, and completion ceremonies.

    Job Duties: The Facilitator I will research, gather, and create lessons, activities, and curriculum content for target population. Effectively recruit and meet the desired number of participants. Collect, review and submit all participants’ paperwork (intake forms, sign in sheets), ensuring all information is filled out correctly and on time.

    Experience and Education: Typically possesses a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate or license. Experience in public speaking. Possess expert knowledge of subject matter.

    Reports to: Program Manager.

    Competencies: Ability to engage and relate to target population. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Build collaborative partnerships. Ability to meet deadlines and multitask.

     

    This position is 40 hours a week.


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate mandated curricula as stated in agency contract agreement.
    • Research, gather and create lessons, activities, and curriculum content for target population.
    • Adhere to agency-wide training requirements (locally and nationally), to ensure program and curriculum fidelity.
    • Responsible for making sure we are providing childcare, food and incentives to participants, working closely with the Program Manager and Case worker.
    • Help Program manager with fieldtrip coordination.
    • Collect and process subcontractor invoices.
    • Effectively recruit and meet the desired number of participants.
    • Collect, review, and submit all participants’ paperwork (intake forms, sign in sheets), ensuring all information is filled out correctly and on time.
    • Responsible for administering and collecting assessments and surveys.
    • Give Data Clerk all program participants’ documents required for reporting.
    • Identify and educate participants throughout contracted zip codes.
    • Assure implementation of workshops, events, fieldtrips, and/ or other activities are scheduled per quarter or as needed.
    • Collect, approve, and submit invoices from subcontractors to Program Manager for approval and process (require 2 signatures for approval).
    • Communicate and advocate effectively for positive and healthy marriage among participants.
    • Monitor and assess participant’s needs and refer to Case Manager.
    • Regularly checks and sends correspondence as needed via email and or project management system.
    • Commute in a timely manner to assigned workshops, events, or any other scheduled activities.
    • Attend all required staff meetings, community outreach events and other BSI events as required.
    • Responsibly represent the agency with a high standard of professionalism.
    • Complete any required training before the deadline (as provided by the onboarding process or your direct supervisor upon hire).
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Education, Administration, or a similar discipline or minimum 2 years experience as a Facilitator or experienced Teacher as equivalent.
    • English language is required (can read, write and speak fluently).
    • Proficiency in computer skills and programs such as Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
    • Effective and clear communication skills (Verbal and Written).
    • Detail Oriented.
    • Ability to learn new software and utilize new tools.
    • Time Management skills.
    • Decision-making skills.
    • Background check clearance.

     

    Preferred Experience and Skills:

    • Possess expert knowledge of subject matter.
    • Bi-Lingual (Spanish or Creole).
    • Experience in community relations and/or public speaking.
    • Excellent self-starter and must be self-motivated.
    • A teaching certificate is a plus.
    • Problem solving skills.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Must have reliable transportation.
    • Willing to commute throughout Miami Dade County & Broward, visiting multiple locations in one day.
    • Available to work occasional evenings, weekends, overnights, and conduct out of state travel as required.

    Physical Demands:

    This position is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen.
