Director of Information Technology Operations
General Summary
This position will work collaboratively with physicians, senior leadership, department heads and key IT suppliers to lead the current and future IT initiatives to provide an efficient and responsive Information Technology (IT) department. This position will work with department heads and company leadership to provide recommendations to other leaders that will achieve CHCWM’s business goals with technology related initiatives. This role will supervise and direct all IT operations personnel and strategic development. Included are system hardware and software infrastructure, voice communications, electronic health records (EHR), system security, and disaster recovery. Additionally, this individual will work in a manner that is consistent with a health care organization whose primary purpose is to provide an efficient cost effective quality service to the patients we serve.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in in Computer Science or Information Systems.
Experience: Five years of experience in all areas of health information systems.
Other: Ability to interact effectively and pleasantly with a diverse population. Ability to review detailed data and make prompt judgments based on that data. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines, interruptions and high work volume. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates organization, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills. 80% of time sitting at computer, 20% walking/moving, able to transport items weighing less than 20 pounds 5% of the time.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Education/Experience
Master degree in computer science or information systems.
Prior health care industry experience, oncology/hematology experience preferred.
Knowledge of and ability to apply Project Management theories.
EMR/EHR experience.
HL7 Interfaces.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Direct and coordinate the design and production of identified projects consistent with the goals and objectives of the organization. Create work plans that have regard for innovative solutions, value, cost effectiveness and functional efficiency. Budget and plan for department infrastructure.
- Establish and maintain a service oriented, customer focused IT department that supports ongoing operations that drive efficiency, quality, customer service and growth.
- Maintain and develop policies and procedures in accordance with standard Network Administration concepts, Network/Data Security, Meaningful Use and EHR standards.
- Provide leadership to Information Technology team which includes but is not limited to hiring, training, evaluation, and mentoring. Establish and maintain a service oriented, customer focused IT department while driving efficiency, quality, service, and growth. Develop and adhere to service performance levels for application availability, response time and network/software performance.
- Function as primary IT/EHR contact for CHCWM. Build and enhance interdepartmental relationships, cultivating a spirit of cross-functional cooperation. Maintains a high level of interaction with all clinical areas to continually enhance/improve patient care.
- Provides in-service and other forms of continuing education of software and hardware to users.
- Shares in on-call duties with the IT department and help complete daily operational aspects of projects as needed.
