The Regional Vice President Retail Duty Free US position is for you, if you would enjoy:
- Executing on the commercial plan by developing functional strategies and specific action plans to drive and achieve sales and EBITDA objectives for the region.
- Participating in the determination of the investment and development plan, managing the shops within an operation, consistent with the short and long term interests of the company, its employees and its customer and being accountable for the P&L in the operation and Talent Management.
- Competitive Salary- $200,000 - $225,000 / yr
Key Accountabilities - your team is counting on you as a Regional Vice President Retail Duty Free US to:
- Create and execute strategic plans and tactical actions and provide continuous input to the Duty Free strategy planning, contribute to business decisions, improvement plans and be the interface with all functional leaders in the region and global platform to implement budget, strategy, and commercial plan to ensure that objectives are met within or beyond set targets
- Actively manages Profit & Loss of airports duty free stores/contracts, financial and commercial KPI targets SPP/Sales destinations, putting action and improvement plans to drive revenue and EBITDA growth
- Supports global store development/refurbishments and implement within approved commercial plan in the stores such as lay out, Pricing, Promotions, Category and Brand selection, in partnership with regional and global platforms
- Evaluates and approves in-store level plans for sales performance, staffing levels, including Brand Specialty Ambassadors, Beauty or Liquor Tobacco Advisors and special targeted promotion, prop ups and execution
- Conducts regular touch points with Duty Free Airport General Managers to ensure that decisions and recommendations are applied in stores, including relevant events of the week sales, promotions, categories, brands, HR, etc.
- Partners with Business Development to monitor business development opportunities and investment plans, support RFP, REOI, tenders
- Supports HR to manage the US People Plan, actively support HR team on people performance, unions and coaches’ people through leading, ensuring compliance with local and corporate requirements
- Promotes “Dufry” Duty Free as a brand inside and outside of the duty-free stores and ensure that a high standard of customer service is implemented across customer journey
- Provides input with support of global pricing platform to pricing policies for the US within the commercial plan and ensures identification and implementation of retail prices and pricing issues; coordinates the validation of pricing policies [specific for each US airport]
- Adapts and implements Dufry Global Business Operating Model for duty free successfully across the US
- Implements Dufry MODUS operations incl. SIP, Shift Planning tools, successfully across all US airports and operations; follows up implementation, conducts post-implementation audits and performance reviews
- Monitors construction projects, store openings/closings date and provides updates to the global and regional Category, Business Development team, partners, airport authorities, when required
- Ensures stores adopt recommendations and operate in accordance with legal rules, technical specifications and safety regulations; identifies and implements necessary trainings within the stores
- Conducts quarterly meetings with ACDBE partners and regularly engages with airport authorities and staff; develops and maintains positive relationships

- Customers: Landlords, brands, suppliers, service providers, airport/city/port authorities, industry affinity organizations
Regional Vice President Retail Duty Free US Required Qualifications:
- Education and Experience
- The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 10 years:
- In a leadership role: Requires 5 years of experience leading a team engaged in retail store operations/management
- In a technical role: Requires 10 years of experience engaged in retail operations
- A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the ten-year requirements
- An MBA or a master’s level degree in a program related to the functional area can count for an additional 2 years of the ten-year requirement
- In the industry: min 5 -7 years of Travel Retail Duty Free experience including with Beauty, Liquor, Luxury consumer goods
- Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits
- Advanced business and financial acumen and also has the strategic mindset required to understand the long-term implications of decisions and to advance the organization’s goals
- Collaborative, excellent skills in communication, role model high standards and ethics
- Demonstrated history of anticipating the needs of the business and managing complex stakeholders, the employee population, and individual circumstances
- Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments through coaching, developing, and leading teams to achieve common goals and excellent ability to manage people and collaborate across the functions and countries with Global departments in HQ Basel and regional and local teams across North America
- Demonstrated experience exhibiting a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to optimize work processes and achieve positive qualitative and quantitative results
- Knows how to influence and elaborate retail and brand store proposal with airports
- Travel/Location: Requires extensive travel to duty free airports locations across the US, and to the Regional or Duty Free team meetings either in Toronto, Bethesda, or New Jersey COE offices
