Director of Operations - Fittings
Position Summary
The Director of Operations - Fittings is responsible for the manufacturing processes and general supervision of all phases of the fittings operations including safety, production, quality control, hiring, and training personnel. This role oversees equipment purchase, maintenance and layout including planning and executive of new operations. In addition, this role is responsible for monitoring and evaluating workflow and assembly methods and making recommendations for process improvements.
Responsibilities/Essential Duties/The Role/Key Accountabilities
Oversee and coordinate fittings operations
Oversee and coordinate expansion and growth activity including plant selection and start up of operations
Coordinate and direct operational activities to meet goals and objectives in line with established business growth goals
Partner with plant management to meet operational objectives, increase productivity and profitability, and streamline efficiencies in safety and plant performance measures
Partner with plant managers to direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving
Evaluate and report on operational activities in relation to National Pipe’s established goals and objectives
Evaluate, review, and provide executive level analysis and process implementation for improvements
Ensure manufacturing performance and quality goals are met
Partner with Sales on customer visits, building relationships and understanding the voice of the customer
Bridge financial information to operations and track and measure costs to budget and forecast
Review established production schedules to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible
Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals
Strategize and develop long-term plans that usher in new levels of productivity and success
Collaborate with executive-level management in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans; Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity
Collaborate with plant management to establish inventory safety stock levels, reorder amounts, and lead times for all raw materials and finished goods
Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement when necessary
Maintain inventory levels and control flow of product
Analyze workforce requirements
Provide coaching and guidance to operations employees
Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment
Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiency and enhance productivity
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in, Operations Management, Business Management or a related field is required
- 10 years senior leadership role in manufacturing operations; in PVC industry preferred
- 3 years as a plant manager or prior success in an equivalent position
- Proven experience in new plant start-up from selection to operation
- Must possess advanced knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
- Must possess knowledge of best practices in: Business and Management, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, and Project Management
- Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment
- An ideal candidate will have proven senior management experience in a highly dynamic setting
· Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills and must enjoy developing solutions that push innovative boundaries
· Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity
· Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands
· Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legislative guidelines
