    The Office of the State Treasurer (OST) is the bank for Washington state government. OST provides banking, investment, debt issuance, and accounting services for state government and has a pivotal role in providing financial services to local government. The agency has a talented staff of approximately 70 employees committed to promoting and maintaining public trust and confidence through consistent application of responsible financial practices, quality customer service, and continuous efforts to improve agency efficiency and productivity.

    Scope:
    The Office of the State Treasurer (OST) is seeking a dependable and motivated individual experienced in customer service to join our Administrative Support team. This position is one of four positions reporting to the Executive Assistant and is assigned primary reception responsibilities for the office.

    As the Administrative Assistant - Receptionist, you will support the organization’s mission by providing a courteous welcome to visitors and guests of the OST whether they are in-person, call by phone, or connect via email. Your responsibilities will include managing meeting room schedules and a variety of other office administrative tasks. The person in this position is required to maintain a high level of confidentiality, will be assigned both supervised and independent work, should have good organizational skills, and have a fundamental understanding of process improvement. The administrative assistant functionality in this position will provide you the opportunity to work closely with staff in other OST divisions providing administrative/clerical support.

    Duties

    Essential Functions:

    • Reception Desk - as the primary first point of contact, you will:
      • manage the general office email account,
      • distribute office mail,
      • answer multi-line phone system and assist callers with a diverse range of issue,
      • greet guests/visitors/meeting attendees who come to our office, and
      • manage office conference and Zoom meeting room calendars.
    • Print, copy and collate meeting materials as needed.
    • Manage office incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Back-up for Senior Administrative Assistant

    Qualifications

    Clerical/administrative support work and other relevant office related experience.
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and work independently.

    Complementary Qualifications:

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
    • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
    • Experience in writing under the Governor’s Correspondence Guidelines.
    • Experience engaging others with an open, collaborative, and cooperative approach.
    • Experience with operating office copier/printer/scanner.
    • Experience in process improvement.
    • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining records inventories and managing records in accordance with retention schedules in a state government agency.
    This position is exempt and not eligible for overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    Hours of work/location:
    The OST takes pride in being a family-friendly and healthy work environment. The OST operates on a standard work week of Monday through Friday with the core business hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The duty station for this position is in Olympia, Washington, with the physical location being in the Legislative Building on the Capitol Campus.

    OST work schedules are determined by position requirements. This position is required to work in the office a minimum of five (5) days per week with opportunities for schedule flexibility around the required in office hours of 10 am to 2 pm.

    Salary and Benefits:
    The annual salary range for this position is $40,000 to $54,000. Washington State offers a competitive benefits package. Beyond the traditional benefits such as health insurance, life insurance and retirement benefits, we offer flex spending accounts, dependent care assistance, deferred compensation, 12 paid holidays, paid vacation, and sick leave.
