    Primary purpose:

    As a Senior Drilling Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, construction, and development of wells, with a specific focus but not limited to Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCUS). Your responsibilities encompass engineering, operations, regulatory compliance, and supply chain management. The goal is to execute all well-related activities safely, legally, and in an environmentally responsible manner.


    Essential duties and responsibilities:

    1. Well Design and Cost Estimation:
    1. Develop drilling procedures and associated well cost estimates for planned wells.
    2. Lead internal well design reviews and risk assessments, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
    3. Advance well design knowledge, specifically in exploration/conventional reservoirs.
    4. Work with Multi-Disciplinary Subsurface team move well design to completeness through internal stage gate process. 
    5. Review offset well and identify risk and analyze offset wells operational performance. 
    6. Lead drill well on paper (DWOPs) meetings and post operations lessons learned and end of well reports. 
    1. Technical Expertise:
    1. Identify and evaluate appropriate offset wells, considering their relevance to CCUS projects.
    2. Model and confirm pore pressure and fracture gradient predictions in well designs.
    3. Analyze material selections for CO2 injection well environments.
    4. Develop basis of well design per region based on subsurface properties and well delivery objectives. 
    5. Document all well design changes using internal Management of Change (MOC) process.
    1. Operational Support:
    1. Provide technical assistance during daily drilling operations.
    2. Act as the primary contact for field operations team.
    3. Offer full-time engineering support to assigned drilling rig(s).
    1. Data Management and Reporting:
    1. Monitor daily morning reports, facilitating data corrections and coding.
    2. Manage well files, ensuring accurate population and organization for assigned wells.
    3. Generate internal and external benchmarking reports and end-of-well summaries.
    4. Coordinate and communicate end-of-well reviews, leading joint reviews with the Subsurface Team.
    1. Collaboration:
    1. Collaborate within well delivery engineering team to optimize well construction performance.
    2. Assist with timely procurement of materials, equipment, and personnel.
    3. Review and approve invoices for accuracy.


    Minimum requirements:


    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering discipline (Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical).  


    Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:

    • 10 Years Drilling Engineering Experience
    • Advanced Well/Casing Design
    • Well Design Software advanced proficiency (Landmark, Stringnosis)


    Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

    • Must have valid Supervisors Well Control Certification.

    • Predominantly office environment, some travel to field operations or other Company offices. 


    Working Conditions: 

    • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed. 
    • Primarily working in an office environment, with well site operations and travel as needed.  
    • Working after hours, nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
