    Hoerr Construction, Inc. was founded in 1994 and focuses on the underground construction field. As a union contractor, the key services we offer include directional drilling, sewer inspection and cleaning, CIPP pipe lining, and water and sanitary sewer construction.

    Key Job Duties for this position include:

    • Oversee and manage a directional drill crew of 2-4 people.
    • Running Vermeer directional drills and DCI locating equipment.
    • Oversee the necessary set-up and tear down of a job site.
    • Schedule job materials, labor, and equipment to complete work as planned and according to schedule.
    • Supervise and plan work activities. Respond appropriately to challenges and disruptions in jobs.
    • Accountable for following the project plans and providing leadership to the crew to meet the agreed upon schedule milestones.
    • Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and project management staff for successful project completion.
    • Responsible for the safety of the work crew. Make safety inspections of the jobsite. Communicate and enforce company safety policies. Set a positive example to crew by following all company safety policies.
    • Accurately and thoroughly complete all necessary paperwork and submit back to the office daily.
    • Responsible for properly reporting utility strikes or other damage reports.
    • Actively work alongside the field crew. This is a working foreman position.
    • Train new workers.
    • Other duties as assigned by company leadership.

    Job Requirements:

    • Valid Class A CDL with air brakes.
    • A minimum of (1) year experience as a directional drilling foreman preferably with Vermeer drill rigs and DCI locating equipment.
    • Able to effectively lead people. Willing to hold crew members accountable.
    • Willing to set a positive job site tone. Lead by example. Promote good work ethic. Person of integrity.
    • Willing to develop people!
    • Ability to read drawings and interpret specifications for the project.
    • Willing to travel within our territory (Central Illinois).
    • Willing to show a commitment to company safety practices.
    • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and have an acceptable MVR.
    • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Possess keen attention to details.
    • Able to meet deadlines.
    • Able to problem solve and effectively deal with conflicts that arise.
    • Able to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift 50 – 100 pounds.
    • Able and willing to work outdoors in various positions such as kneeling, standing, crouching.
