The City of Covington’s Assistant Economic Development Director and Executive Director of the Covington Economic Development Authority will focus on new commercial real estate projects and will assist efforts to attract, facilitate, and support commercial development projects within the City of Covington. The position will also work with the department's business attraction, retention and expansion staff on traditional jobs development efforts. This position requires a candidate with a strong background in economic development, urban planning, and commercial real estate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with the Economic Development Director to negotiate and close commercial development deals on behalf of the City.
Identify and target potential developers, investors, and businesses interested in undertaking commercial development projects in the city, especially those associated with the City's Central Riverfront redevelopment work. Provide staff support for monthly meetings of the Covington Economic Development Authority Board meetings.
Provide guidance and support to developers, builders, and businesses throughout the development process.
Build and maintain relationships with local developers, architects, real estate professionals, and other industry partners to foster collaboration and innovation in economic development projects.
Provide recommendations to the Covington Economic Development Authority Board for the use of Tax Increment Finance District funds to help achieve the city's economic development goals.
Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of commercial construction projects, reporting on key metrics, successes, and areas for improvement.
Supervise management level staff in the areas of Business Attraction and Business Retention and Expansion.
Position reports to the Director of Economic Development.
Oversees the analysis and underwriting of business and developer applications for financial incentives, including return on investment and/or cost/benefit summaries.
