    SUMMARY

    The Lead Transitional Support Advisor (Lead TSA) provides a variety of program support functions for corpsmember development activities and tracking corpsmember progress. Additionally, the Lead TSA supervises the Transitional Support Adviser (TSA) position and assists the Training Services Assistant Director in the ongoing training of the LCC Transitional Support staff.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Develops, administers, coordinates and documents corpsmember development through the Individual Service Strategies process for corpsmembers. Including, but not limited to: academic progress and assessment, corps field service and skill development support and tracking, college and career development, life skills and leadership development, supportive services referrals, support follow-up services and tracking/reporting.

    Oversees the onboarding, training and continued mentorship of TSA personnel.

    Assists the Local Conservations Corps (LCC) Assistant Director in scheduling internal file audits of LCC corpsmembers to prepare for funding source site visits on a quarterly basis.

    Works with the Training Services Assistant Director to evenly distribute client caseloads, based on program needs and requirements.

    Assists the LCC Assistant Director and Program Managers in the intake and eligibility process of incoming corpsmembers.

    Assists the LCC Assistant Director in coordinating formal training opportunities for the TSA position.

    Works with the Program Managers for comprehensive case plan development and service delivery.

    Assesses the needs for corpsmember support services and helps corpsmembers access needed services.

    Assists corpsmembers in overcoming personal barriers to education and employment such as housing, childcare, substance abuse, and transportation. Takes on and/or provides guidance for challenging corpsmember case management.

    Develops, researches, and obtains a variety of resources to promote corpsmember development, employability and academic advancement.

    Assures timely tracking and support of corpsmember attendance and progress toward academic and field service goals.

    Meets and provides counseling services to corpsmembers on a regularly scheduled basis and as needed to evaluate progress and maintain concise, accurate case notes. Inputs case notes and other required information into database systems on a regular basis.

    Provides corpsmember data, documents and completes reports to agency, funding sources, etc., as required.

    Assists with the coordination and successful completion of corpsmember development. Implements disciplinary and restorative measures with corpsmembers as needed within the guidelines of the Corpsmember Handbook.

    Develops, collaborates with and maintains working relationships with local agencies such as Child Support Services, Fresno County Housing Authority, agency programs and other social service organizations regarding corpsmember issues and resource needs.

    Advocates on behalf of corpsmembers for the primary purpose of corpsmember self-sufficiency and life skill development.

    Coordinates and manages community service, program specific and campus activities (Student/ Corpsmember Council, school events/activities, special recognition events, etc.) linking corpsmembers to the greater sense of community and to support corpsmember leadership development.

    Provides job development services and related activities including assisting with: resume writing, preparing for interviews, referrals for employment and support of other corps and agency related job development resources and processes.

    Develops and conducts workshops and other development activities through various corps processes including Mental Toughness Orientation, New Enrollment Orientations, program specific orientation and activities, etc.

    Must work effectively and efficiently with case managers, postsecondary staff, teachers and school staff, program staff, managers and administration and partner and community agencies.

    Travels for agency business using reliable transportation/agency vehicle.

    Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

    Works evenings and weekends as required.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION:
    High School Diploma or GED.

    Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field required. Work experience may substitute required education on a year-by-year basis.

    EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum of five (5) years full-time paid work experience in an organizational setting related to youth development, teaching, counseling, case management or youth service required

    Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with young adults preferred

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with corpsmembers, staff, management and community partners.

    Effective presentation skills including the ability to plan and facilitate individual and group training sessions on a variety of program related topics.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software. Ability to accurately type 45 words per minute.

    Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.

    Ability to work well with young adults and diverse populations, and with contracted service providers and representatives of partnering agencies.

    Demonstrated interest in and dedication to serving the community; a basic understanding of poverty, its causes and conditions and impact on individuals and communities is essential.

    Demonstrated experience in mentoring and coaching young adults to resolve behavioral issues and other barriers to their vocational field training, education and other requirements.

    Ability to be a leader and a positive role model for corpsmembers; be actively involved and supportive of their vocational training, career goals and educational goals.

    Goal orientated; possess ability to structure workload to meet deadlines.

    Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of employment and maintain current thereafter.

    Ability to satisfactorily pass criminal background checks including but not limited to California Department of Justice and FBI. Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

    Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by agency carrier for those driving agency vehicles.
