The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Regional Business Outreach Manager for its Regional Talent Solutions and Business Outreach Division for its Roanoke and Charlottesville areas. As a representative of VEDP, this position will conduct business outreach to assist growing Virginia companies with their recruitment and training needs and help companies leverage available programs to support their growth. A considerable amount of travel will be required to and throughout the Roanoke and Charlottesville areas. A company vehicle is provided for business use.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in program or project management, sales and marketing, and/or workforce program delivery. The Business Manager must be able to provide exemplary customer service to companies, as well as workforce and economic development partners, and will have a knack for creative problem solving. The Business Manager will develop strong working relationships with senior executives of high-value target companies and local and regional economic offices through responsive and value-added dialogue, with the goal of being considered a trusted advisor. This position will also facilitate relationships with primary workforce delivery partners in the region, including the Virginia Community College System, 4-year universities, the regional Workforce Development Boards (Virginia Career Works), and the K-12 academic community. Demonstrated success in working with these stakeholder communities is preferred.
The Business Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Applicants must also have strong organizational skills and be able to plan and successfully manage multiple projects across a wide geographic area. The candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a high-performing, highly collaborative work team. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products is required, and experience with Salesforce is desired. This position requires frequent travel, including overnight stays and a valid driver’s license.
